Commission: Bomb Girls

Commission for of her Sailor Gamma Leonis and Unisamas's Sailor War - Retro style! Thank you so much for commissioning me! I think I finished this in record time because I was so happy and excited to have a commission XD (and I have so much fun doing retro sailors and researching them and outfits and hair and AH I LOVE DOING IT!)... I have been working on this a lot of the past few days (I drew up 3 other near done sketches to get them right before settling on this one!)

I am kind of pissed off at my scanner though because this looks so, so much better in person than it does from the scan T_T...

But I am so happy with how it came out (besides you damned scanner!)! First time I used my new sepia inking pens- I used mostly a brush pen which I really liked and then relined later with a smaller pen. I think my inspiration was also helped by the fact that I had just finished Bomb Girls season 2 right before this commission! Inspiration peaked! lol... These two were hard to figure out how I wanted to retro design them since I like to do different designs (and not just repeat the same retro outfit again and again, same with hair). I knew I wanted War to have some bitchin' military uniform (considering she is Sailor WAR I think it fit pretty nicely lol).... At first I was going to not give her dreads since they weren't super retro looking but I figured I changed her fuku way more so I wanted to keep her looking somewhat similar lol- and I gave her poofy curly bangs! And kept her awesome boots. For Gamma I had a hell of a time figuring out how I wanted her hair! I didn't want to leave it exactly the same (where's the fun/challenge in that?) but I wanted her to still be recognizable (and her hair is pretty distinct) but I love how it came out! It looks a little different but still like her- just more retro glam! And again, wanted to do something different than I have before so I gave her a different dress look than others I have done, and just tried to incorporate elements of her fuku/colors into it (I must say, I can never find the right colors for her! lol)...

(also it was really fun to draw a couple! I don't usually do that!)

Sooo yeah- I blather on and on... In summary: I love doing these retro redesigns, eff my scanner, and thank you so much for commissioning me Nicky I really hope you like it!
